The History

The 8000A amplifier produced for the first time in 1983, was the introduction to today's audio genius. It was the start of an exciting and innovative movement towards high-quality affordable sound devices in the British Audio industry. Successfully pulling it off, Audiolab can now be described as the makers of effortless sound performances, making them one of the top competitors in the audio industry.

1. FOUNDERS

Audiolab was founded by Philip Swift and Derek Scotland in 1983. They met as students of the Imperial College. Audiolab started because of the frustration of high-costs of hi-fi and audio equipment.

2. FIRST PRODUCT LAUNCHED

The 8000A integrated amplifier was launched in 1983 and sold at £250. Followed by the 8000C preamplifier and the 8000P power amplifier. The amplifier was designed to be the start of a complete Audiolab system.

4. THE 90’s...

  • Audiolab 8000A upgraded
  • Monobloc 8000M power amps added
  • 8000 DAC, a high-tech digital to analogue converter
  • 8000T tuner introduced

5. NEW PRODUCT LABEL.

  • Bought by parent company of the Tag Mclaren F1 racing team in 1998
  • Introduction of Tag Mclaren Audio F3 range

  • Multi-channel power amplifiers: AV30R and the 700:7R now known as the 8000AV and 8000X7.

6. TODAY’S TIMES

Audiolab is back and independant of Tag McLaren with state-of-the-art production facility which produces mix of user-convenience and excellent performance at affordable prices.
